Atmospheric pressure is the force exerted by the weight of air on the Earth’s surface. Although this force is significant, we do not usually feel it pressing down on our bodies. This is explained by a balance of forces acting from both inside and outside the body.

We do not feel the pressure of the atmosphere because the air presses on our bodies from all sides equally, and our bodies exert an equal counter-pressure in response. The pressure inside our bodies is equal to the atmospheric pressure outside, so the two forces cancel each other out, and we remain unaware of the constant force being exerted on us.
