What is a cloudburst?

A cloudburst is a sudden, intense rainfall over a small area, usually within a short period of time. It occurs when a large amount of moisture in the atmosphere condenses rapidly, causing a heavy downpour. Cloudbursts can lead to flash floods, especially in mountainous or hilly regions, as the excess water flows quickly down the slopes. These events are often unexpected and can cause significant damage to property, infrastructure, and crops. Due to their short duration but high intensity, cloudbursts can be particularly dangerous in areas with poor drainage systems.
