An example of an object at rest is a book placed on a table. When the book is not moving and is stationary on the table, it is said to be at rest. The book stays in the same position until an external force, like someone picking it up, makes it move. Objects at rest do not change their position unless acted upon by a force. This is an example of static or resting motion.
