The cell membrane surrounds all cells and controls movement of substances. It is selectively permeable, allowing some materials to enter or leave, while protecting and maintaining the cell’s internal environment.

  1. The cell membrane is a thin, flexible boundary present in all cells. It protects the cell and controls the movement of substances in and out. Being selectively permeable, it allows useful substances like nutrients and gases to pass while blocking harmful ones. It also helps cells communicate and interact with their surroundings.
