My friend was trying to figure out why the Wi-Fi wasn’t working at home. He first observed that no devices could connect to the internet. He asked, “Why isn’t the Wi-Fi working?” He hypothesized that the router might need to be reset. He tested this by restarting the router, and when the Wi-Fi started working again, he confirmed that his hypothesis was correct.
Suppose your flashlight doesn’t turn on. You observe that it’s not working and hypothesize that the batteries might be dead. You replace the batteries as an experiment. If the flashlight turns on, your hypothesis is confirmed. If not, you make a new hypothesis, perhaps that the bulb is faulty, and test that. This process of observation, hypothesis, testing, and conclusion is the scientific method in action. If a pen stops writing, checking if the ink is finished and trying to fix it is an example of using the scientific method.
