The office boy in Poets and Pancakes was frustrated because he felt that his creative talents were overlooked, and he was assigned menial tasks, like applying makeup, instead of pursuing his ambition of becoming a screenwriter. This unfulfilled aspiration and lack of recognition made him bitter and resentful. He directed his anger and frustration toward the narrator, Asokamitran, whom he viewed as equally unproductive but luckier for having a less tedious role. The office boy’s complaints reflected his dissatisfaction with the unappreciated and unchallenging work he was given at the studio.
