Who discovered electrons?

The discovery of the electron is credited to British physicist J.J. Thomson in 1897. Thomson’s groundbreaking work involved experiments with cathode rays, which are streams of charged particles. While conducting experiments in a cathode ray tube, he observed that the rays were deflected by both electric and magnetic fields, suggesting that they were made up of negatively charged particles. This led him to propose that these particles, which he called “corpuscles,” were much smaller than atoms and carried a negative charge.
