The process that turns liquid water into ice is called freezing. When water is cooled to a temperature of 0°C or below, its molecules slow down and arrange themselves into a solid structure, forming ice. This happens because the temperature drops, and the energy in the water decreases, causing the molecules to bond together. Freezing is the opposite of melting.
