A plateau is a flat or gently sloping elevated area of land that rises sharply above the surrounding terrain on at least one side. Often referred to as “tablelands,” plateaus are formed by various geological processes like volcanic activity or the uplift of Earth’s crust. They offer a mix of high altitude and flat surface, making them unique landforms.

A plateau is an elevated landform characterized by a flat or gently sloping top, often surrounded by steep sides or cliffs. These landforms can rise dramatically from the surrounding landscape, creating distinct ecological zones and microclimates. Plateaus are significant for their unique geological formations and can be found in various environments, providing important habitats and resources for both wildlife and human communities. Therefore option 1 is correct answer.
