On comparing the ratios, a₁/a₂, b₁/b₂ and c₁/c₂, find out whether the pair of linear equations are consistent, or inconsistent. (4/3)x + 2y = 8; 2x + 3y = 12

A pair of linear equations in two variables is consistent if there exists at least one solution that makes both equations true at the same time. How can I download NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Maths? Can you provide me video solution of this question of chapter 3?

  1. (4/3)x + 2y = 8
    2x + 3y = 12
    Here, a₁/a₂ = (4/3)/2 = 2/3, b₁/b₂ = 2/3 and c₁/c₂ = 8/12 = 2/3
    ⇒ a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ = c₁/c₂, so, pair of linear equations are consistent.
