If tan (A + B) = √3 and tan (A – B) = 1/√3 ; 0° B, find A and B.

  1. Given that: tan(A + B) = √3
    ⇒ tan (A+B) = tan 60° [∵ tan 60° = √3]
    ⇒ A+B= 60° …(i)
    Given that: tan (A – B) = 1/√3
    ⇒ tan(A-B) = tan 30° [∵ tan 30° = 1/√3]
    ⇒ A-B = 30° …(ii)
    Solving the equations (i) and (ii), we get
    2A = 90° ⇒ A = 45°
    From equation (1), we get
    45°+B = 60° ⇒ B = 15°
    Hence, A = 45° and B = 15°
