Cells multiply by a process called cell division. The parent cell divides into daughter cells through mitosis or meiosis. Mitosis produces identical cells for growth and repair, while meiosis produces gametes for reproduction. This process ensures continuity of life, increases cell number and replaces damaged or dead cells in the body.
