(i) Carbonate and Sulphide ores are usually converted into oxides during the process of extraction of metals.
(ii) Ionic compounds have generally high melting points.
(iii) Hydrogen is not a metal, but it has been assigned a place in the reactivity series of metals.
(iv)The galvanized iron articles are protected against rusting even if the zinc layer is broken.
(v) The wires carrying current in homes have a coating of PVC. [CBSE 2016]

1 Answer is oxides are easy to reduce
2 They have High interatomic force of attraction
Yes, the extraction of metals are easier from their oxides as compared to sulphide or carbonates.
Hydrogen being a non-metal is placed in the reactivity series of metals because like all metals hydrogen forms a positive ion by losing an electron.
In chemical terms. We define metals as those elements who form positive ions of themselves and vice versa and because of this similarity between hydrogen and other metals. Hydrogen is placed in the reactivity series of metals
Ionic compounds have high boiling and melting points because they have a strong force of attraction between them.
Ionic compounds are formed by the mutual bonding between two elements. One who is willing to gain and one who is willing to give are bonded together.
That is why the heat energy required to break the strong force of attraction between the atoms is very high and hence the boiling and melting point is high.
The galvanized iron articles are protected against rusting even if the zinc layer is broken because Zinc is more reactive than Iron.
Rusting happens when Iron reacts with water and air and forms Ferric Oxide(Fe203) but since Zinc is more reactive than Iron. The Oxygen molecules which were supposed to react with Iron reacts with Zinc instead because Zinc is more prone when it comes to a reaction.
