Can non-living things ever exhibit signs of life?

Non-living things cannot exhibit true signs of life. While they may appear to display movement or other properties, these are not due to biological processes but are mechanical or chemical in nature.

  1. Non-living things cannot exhibit genuine signs of life. Although they might show movement or changes in appearance, these are not results of biological processes but rather mechanical or chemical reactions. For example, a car may move, but it does so due to its engine and not because of any life processes. True life signs such as growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli are exclusive to living organisms.
