When was the Indian Constitution adopted?

The Indian Constitution was adopted on 26th November 1949 by the Constituent Assembly. It came into effect on 26th January 1950, a day now celebrated as Republic Day in India. The Constitution laid down the framework for the governance of India, establishing it as a democratic republic. It defines the rights, duties, and responsibilities of citizens and outlines the structure of the government.
