  1. Foods with more moisture, such as bread, milk and fresh vegetables, spoil faster because moisture supports the growth of microbes. In contrast, dry foods like nuts, pickles or dried chillies last longer since they have little or no water. Storing moist foods properly in cool or airtight conditions can slow spoilage.
