The merchant loved the parrot deeply and valued it highly, so he kept it in a golden cage. The gold symbolised the bird’s importance and his affection, though it unknowingly took away the parrot’s freedom and natural joy of flying.

  1. The merchant kept the parrot in a golden cage because he cherished it and considered it a prized possession. The golden cage was a sign of his wealth and love for the parrot. Although he provided the parrot with comfort and luxury, he failed to understand that the bird longed for freedom. The shiny cage was beautiful but did not give the parrot happiness. It showed that even love can sometimes become a cage without understanding.
