Khizr Khan, founder of the Sayyid Dynasty, accepted the nominal suzerainty of the Timurid ruler Mirza Shahrukh. After Timur’s invasion, Khizr Khan was appointed governor of Delhi and later established his rule but continued to acknowledge the Timurid overlordship.
