Khetaram firmly believed in the cultural conviction that “Ashubh Samachar” or bad news brings misfortune and should never cross a family’s doorstep. He strictly acted upon this philosophical outlook by halting outside the recipient’s house, reading the tragic bereavement letter twice to convey the necessary information and then shredding the entire document to pieces to eliminate bad omens.
