What is the y-intercept of the line? Explain its significance.

  • 1

The y-intercept is 0 because the line crosses the y-axis at the origin (0, 0). It signifies that when the variable x equals zero, the corresponding value of y is also zero.

  1. The y-intercept of the line y = 3x is 0. In slope-intercept form y = mx + d, the constant d represents the y-intercept where the line intersects the vertical axis. Since the line passes through (0, 0), its y-intercept is 0. Geometrically and practically, it indicates that at the initial state when x = 0, the quantity y begins at zero.
