  1. A ‘league’ is an alliance between rulers, nations or leaders who join together for mutual support, typically in military, political or economic matters. In historical times, leagues were formed to defend against invaders, support rebellion or ensure collective safety. In Rani Abbakka’s case, she formed a league with the Zamorin of Kozhikode to oppose Portuguese dominance. Such alliances provided strength through unity and helped smaller kingdoms stand up to powerful enemies by combining resources and strategies.
