  1. Longitudes are imaginary lines running from the North Pole to the South Pole, used to measure how far a location is east or west of the Prime Meridian, which passes through Greenwich, London. Longitudes are crucial for calculating time differences. The Earth is divided into 360° of longitude, with 15° corresponding to one hour. For instance, India, located at 77°E longitude, has a time difference of 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT, establishing its time zone.
