Equivalent fractions are different fractions that represent the same value. For example, 1/2 is equal to 2/4, and 1/3 is equal to 2/6. They look different, but they mean the same part of a whole.

  1. Equivalent fractions are fractions that may have different numerators and denominators but still represent the same portion of a whole. For example, if we divide a chocolate into 2 parts, 1/2 means one piece. If we divide it into 4 parts, 2/4 also means the same half. Similarly, 1/3 = 2/6 = 3/9. These fractions look different but show the same shaded region. That’s why they are called equivalent fractions.
