Resistance is given by R = p L/A . Given La/Lb = 1/2 and da/db = 2/3, so Aa/Ab = 2/3 2 = 4/g. thus, Ra/Rb = (1/2)/(4g) = 9/8. Since V ∝ R in series,
Va/Vb = Ra/Rb = 9/8
Answer: (d) 9/8.
