The Potwar Plateau is a major geographical region in Pakistan’s Punjab province. It is an uplifted area located between the Jhelum River to the east and the Indus River to the west. The plateau is famous for its “Salt Range,” which contains some of the world’s oldest and largest salt deposits. Its topography is heavily dissected by streams, creating a “badlands” appearance in many areas.
