Understanding the concept of straight lines is crucial for mastering coordinate geometry. The CBSE 2024-25 NCERT Class 11th syllabus includes this chapter to help students learn about the slope of a line different equations of a line conditions for parallel and perpendicular lines and the distance of a point from a line. Multiple-choice questions allow students to test their knowledge and enhance their problem-solving speed. Regular practice of these MCQs improves accuracy and logical thinking which are essential for exams. Developing a strong grasp of straight lines not only helps in board exams but also builds a solid foundation for advanced mathematics and competitive exams.

  1. Choice (c) is correct.
    Let the given points be P(3, -1) and Q(4, – 2).
    Slope of PQ = -2 + 1 /4 – 3 = -1/1 = -1 = m₁
    and slope of x-axis = 0 = m₂
Let θ be the required angle between given lines.
    So, tan θ = m₂ – m₁ /1 + m₁m₂ = 0 + 1/1 – 0 = 1
    ⇒ tan θ = tan 45° ⇒ θ = 45°
