Differences between transport of material in:
Xylem:-
(i) Movement of materials in one direction only.
(ii) Only physical factors involved in transportation of water through xylem.
(iii) Transportation of material through xylem is in form of a solution i.e’, ions
dissolved in water.
Phloem:-
(i) Movement of materials in all directions
(ii) Translocation of organic solutes through phloem is an active Process, requiring energy.
(iii) Translocation through phloem is that of solute Le., sucrose
