  1. To make silage, green fodder like maize or Napier grass is chopped and pressed tightly in silage bags to remove oxygen. Bags are tied and stored for 2–3 weeks until fermentation produces nutritious, preserved feed. For dry fodder mixture, wheat or rice straw is mixed with jaggery, salt and mineral powder. This improves flavour, palatability and digestion. Both silage and dry fodder mixtures provide balanced nutrition, especially during seasons when fresh green fodder is unavailable.
