  1. Several courageous women warriors played crucial roles in India’s freedom struggle. Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi fought valiantly in the 1857 revolt. Rani Chennamma of Kittur stood against the British much earlier. Captain Lakshmi Sahgal was a part of Subhash Chandra Bose’s INA. Rani Durgavati bravely resisted Mughal forces. Jhalkari Bai, a close aide to Rani Lakshmibai, disguised herself as the queen to confuse the British. These women are celebrated for their determination, leadership and patriotic spirit.
