    1. The Polavaram Dam and the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) are major dams constructed along the Godavari to store water for irrigation, electricity and drinking. Nearby, the Kawal Tiger Reserve and Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary support rich biodiversity. These protected areas provide a habitat for many species and are part of the forest landscapes nourished by the Godavari’s perennial waters.
