In humans, the sperm fertilizes the ovum in the Fallopian tube. After ejaculation, sperm travel through the female reproductive tract to reach the Fallopian tubes where fertilization typically occurs. The fertilized egg, or zygote, then moves down the Fallopian tube towards the uterus for implantation and further development.
