Here, a = 2 and a₃ = 26. To find: a₂
Given that: a₃ = a + (3 -1)d = 26
⇒ 2 + 2d = 26
⇒ d = 12 – d ….(1)
and a₄ = 3 ⇒ a + 3d = 3
Therefore, a₂ = a + (2 – 1)d = 2 + 12 = 14
