  1. The length of one ant is 1/4 cm. If I put 16 ants in a line, I multiply 16 × 1/4 = 16/4. That equals 4 cm. On a number line, each jump is 1/4. After 16 jumps, I reach 4. So, the total length of 16 ants is exactly 4 cm.
