If each paratha is cut into halves, how many parathas do you get from 5 half-pieces?

  • 1

Five halves equal 5/2 parathas. That is the same as 2 whole parathas and 1 half paratha. So, from 5 half-pieces, we get 2½ parathas.

  1. Each half is written as 1/2. When I take 5 halves, it is 5 × 1/2 = 5/2. This improper fraction can be written as a mixed number 2½. That means we can make 2 full parathas and 1 more half paratha. So, 5 half-pieces equal 2½ parathas.
