How do microbes also cause infections?

  1. While many microbes are helpful, some cause infections. Harmful bacteria and viruses can enter the body through air, water or touch and reproduce inside, damaging tissues and making us sick. Infections like flu, food poisoning or skin problems are caused by these microbes. Understanding how they work helps us take steps to prevent illness, such as maintaining hygiene, getting vaccinations and using medicines when needed. Microbes can be both friends and foes in human life.
