Find (i) the curved surface area and (ii) the total surface area of a hemisphere of radius 21 cm.

  • 1

For radius 21 cm: (i) Curved surface area is 2πr² = 2 × (22/7) × 21² = 2772 cm². (ii) Total surface area is 3πr² = 3 × (22/7) × 21² = 4158 cm².

  1. Given the radius of the hemisphere r = 21 cm. (i) The curved surface area of a hemisphere is given by CSA = 2πr². Using π = 22/7, CSA = 2 × (22/7) × 21 × 21 = 2 × 22 × 3 × 21 = 2772 cm². (ii) The total surface area includes the curved surface and circular base: TSA = 3πr² = 3 × (22/7) × 21 × 21 = 4158 cm².
