  1. Birbal was killed in 1586 AD while campaigning in the northwest frontier to suppress a fierce tribal rebellion led by the Yusufzais. Birbal was sent at the head of a Mughal force that was ambushed in the rugged terrain of the Swat Valley. Due to poor tactical decisions and lack of military experience, the Mughal column suffered heavy casualties and Birbal was killed. Akbar was deeply saddened by the loss of his friend and courtier, making it one of the most personally distressing events of his reign.

The correct answer is (D) While suppressing the rebellion of the Yusufzais.
