  1. Direct rays of the Sun fall on the equator during the equinoxes. There are two equinoxes each year, around March 20th (Vernal Equinox) and September 22nd (Autumnal Equinox). During these times, the Earth’s axis is neither tilted towards nor away from the Sun, resulting in nearly equal day and night lengths worldwide.
