  1. Food can be preserved in different ways. Drying removes moisture, preventing microbial growth, as in dried chillies or papads. Refrigeration lowers temperature to slow microbe activity, used for milk, vegetables and butter. Oiling forms a protective layer that blocks air, keeping pickles fresh. These methods extend shelf life, prevent spoilage and maintain taste and nutrition for longer use.
