The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest, with an elevation of 8,848.86 metres. It is located in the Himalayas, on the border between Nepal and Tibet (China). In Nepalese, it is called Sagarmatha and in Tibetan, Chomolungma.

  1. Mount Everest, situated in the Himalayan range, is the tallest mountain in the world, standing at 8,848.86 metres above sea level. It lies on the border of Nepal and Tibet (China). In Nepal, it is known as Sagarmatha and in Tibet, it is called Chomolungma, meaning “Mother Goddess of the World.” It attracts climbers from all over the globe. Everest is part of the Eight-Thousanders, the group of mountains over 8,000 metres in elevation.
