A water-wise house or school would have rainwater harvesting systems, soak pits and rooftop gardens. It would use low-flow taps, reuse wastewater for gardening and have permeable pavements to let water seep into the ground.

  1. A house or school that conserves water would include rainwater harvesting systems to collect and store rain. Soak pits and open ground would help recharge groundwater. Rooftop gardens reduce runoff and keep the building cool. Low-flow taps and dual-flush toilets reduce water usage. Greywater (used water from washing) could be reused for gardening. Permeable paths and tree plantations would let water soak into the ground naturally.
