Bama’s experience illustrates the discrimination faced by those in the lower caste due to the rigid hierarchies of the caste system, while Zitkala-Sa’s experience depicts the cultural and racial discrimination endured by Native Americans, particularly in the context of forced assimilation. Bama responds to her situation with a growing awareness and resilience, ultimately finding pride in her identity and heritage. In contrast, Zitkala-Sa reacts to her oppression with a strong sense of defiance and a desire to reclaim her cultural identity, as seen in her refusal to conform to the expectations imposed by the dominant society. Both narratives highlight the strength and determination of individuals to challenge and resist oppressive systems, albeit in different cultural contexts.
