Muhammad Ghori’s final invasion was directed against the Khokhars of Punjab, a fiercely independent tribal group resisting Turkish authority. Ghori launched a major campaign to suppress their repeated rebellions. Although he succeeded militarily, this campaign strained him heavily. Shortly afterward, while returning to Ghazni, he was assassinated in 1206, making this his last known military expedition in India. ANSWER: (C) Khokhars of Punjab

  1. The Khokhars of Punjab were a powerful tribal community that frequently challenged Ghori’s expanding influence. In 1205–06, Muhammad Ghori undertook a large-scale campaign to crush their uprisings, marking his final invasion in India. The Khokhars were known for their resistance against foreign control and had previously attacked Turkish forces in the region. Ghori, determined to secure his frontiers before returning to Ghazni, defeated them decisively after an intense campaign. However, the conflict weakened him physically and militarily. While travelling back to Ghazni in 1206, he was assassinated near the Indus River, making the Khokhar campaign his last Indian venture.
