The name of the compound is Plaster of Paris. Its chemical formula is CaSO4. ½ H2O.
Equation:
CaSO4.2H2O → CaSO4. ½ H2O + 1 ½ H2O
This compound is used in the hospitals mainly as plastering for supportive layer of fractured bones in the getting right position.
