How are tissues in plants and animals different and why?

Plant tissues mainly provide support, transport and continuous growth because plants remain fixed in one place. Animal tissues help movement, coordination and rapid responses because animals move actively. Structural differences arise from different lifestyles, nutrition methods and body requirements.

  1. Plant and animal tissues differ in structure and function because plants and animals have different lifestyles. Plants are fixed and need supporting, conducting and growing tissues. Animals move actively and require muscular, nervous and flexible tissues for movement and coordination. Plants prepare food through photosynthesis, while animals digest food. Therefore, their tissues develop differently according to their functional needs.
