Name all the people who are tried in the king’s court, and give the reasons for their trial.

First the merchant was tried because he was accused of not building strong walls which killed the thief. The merchant defended himself by accusing the person who built the wall for building a weak wall. When the bricklayer was summoned,he defended himself by saying that because a dancing girl kept walking up and down the street with her anklets jiggling,he could not concentrate on his work. When the dancing lady, now an old lady, came to the court she defended herself by saying that she had given her gold to the goldsmith to make some jewellery for her.since he was lazy,he kept postponing the date when she is suppose to receive her jewellery which made her walk up and down the street many times. When the goldsmith was questioned, he said that he postponed the date because a rich person had also ordered a jewellery and he said how impatient are Rich people. When the goldsmith named the rich man, it was none other than the merchant.
Following people were tried in the king’s court:
• The wealthy merchant whose house was burgled was on trial because his house’s wall was weak and it fell upon the burglar and killed him.
• The bricklayer who built the weak wall which collapsed killing the burglar.
• The dancing girl distracted the bricklayer with the sound of her jingling anklets by walking up and down the road.
• The goldsmith was on trial because he was responsible for not completing the dancing girl’s order on time and so she had to visit the goldsmith frequently.
• The merchant’s father persuaded the goldsmith to finish his order first. Since the merchant’s father died, the merchant had to be executed in his father’s place.
The disciple was on trial because a fat man was required to fit the stake and the merchant was too thin to be executed.
