  1. Biodiversity varies by region because different places have different conditions like climate, soil, and landscape. For example, a rainforest has many types of plants and animals because of its warm, wet environment. In contrast, a desert has fewer species adapted to its dry, hot conditions. Each environment supports plants and animals that are specially suited to survive there, so the variety of life is different in each type of environment.
