Let the EMF of the cell be E and internal resistance be r.
Using Ohm’s law:For 2Ω resistor:
E = 0.9 (2 + r)
For 7 resistor
E = 0.3 (7 + r)
Equating both:
0.9(2 + r) = 0.3 (7 + r)
Solving for r:
1.8 + 0.9r = 2.1 + 0.3r
0.9r – 0.3r = 2.1 – 1.8
0.6r – 0.3
r = 0.5Ω
Answer: (d) 0.5 Ω
