Why is orientation of the partable radio with respect to broadcasting station important?

As electromagnetic waves are plane polarised, therefore the receiving antenna of portable radio should be parallel to electric/magnetic part of the wave. Class 12 Physics Chapter 8 Electromagnetic Waves Session 2024-2025.
