A person with myopia has the far point nearer than infinity, allowing them to see clearly up to a distance of a few meters. However, distant objects appear blurry.

Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a refractive defect where a person can see nearby objects clearly but cannot see distant objects distinctly.

The three common refractive defects of vision mentioned are (i) myopia or near-sightedness, (ii) hypermetropia or farsightedness, and (iii) presbyopia.

Cataract is a condition where the crystalline lens becomes milky and cloudy, causing partial or complete loss of vision. Vision can be restored through cataract surgery, a medical procedure that replaces the cloudy lens with an artificial one.
